SGA Keeps Busy in October

At 12:33 p.m. on October 24, 2019, SGA addressed the busy agenda for the month of October and for the beginning of November.

Secretary Becky Luketic began the meeting by announcing two fundraising requests. The first student organization to request $400 was Kapa Kapa Si and the next was Falcon Racing. Kapa Kapa Si asked for $400 to update improvements in their organization and Falcon Racing asked for $400 to make cosmetic improvements to their race cars.

Secretary Luketic also made a motion to extend the fundraiser request deadline by one week and the motion passed unanimously. The deadline will now end around the second week of November.

After a motion was granted for the faculty senate advisor candidates to speak to the assembly once more, the body of SGA voted. Two candidates withdrew from the race because they did not feel qualified and another candidate did not meet the constitutional requirement of having 20 or more college credit hours. Out of 21 votes, Zack Fancher received 9 votes and James Lyons received the winning 12 votes.

In addition to faculty senate advisor voting, three members of the Falcon faculty were nominated for Faculty member of the year.

Before the meeting adjourned at 1:16 p.m., it was announced that SGA had been nominated to participate in a BB&T project. This project entails traveling to Charleston, WV, decorating a tree and competing against three other colleges. The first prize winner will receive $5,000 and the last prize is $1,000.
