BSU Sankofa Graduation

The Black Student Union held it’s 2nd Sankofa Rites of Passage graduation ceremony May 3 in the Falcon Conference Room. Faculty, friends, and family gathered to honor eleven graduates. In the Sankofa Ghanian tradition, students celebrated what they have learned so far among supporters and welcomed the encouragement to move on, building on that foundation. In keeping with the African tradition, each student who received the sash was then greeted by Mother Birdie Williams, a 94-year-old matriarch of the local Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
