After opening this year’s 2025-2026 football season at Seton Hill University with a win, the Fighting Falcons took on the Bloomsburg Huskies on home turf at Duvall-Rosier field on September 4, the first home game of the season.
To celebrate, Student Activities kicked off the season with a pre-game tailgate that included an assortment of food and activities, including a rally towel station where fans could make their own tie-dyed rally towels.
The Huskies scored the first touchdown of the game, but the Fighting Falcons soon caught up.

By the time halftime rolled around, a downpour of rain blanketed the field, but many fans stayed behind, and some returned with umbrellas or ponchos to continue supporting the team.
“I think it was concerning when we saw everybody leaving because of the rain, but I think that brought us all together, and it revealed the true Falcon,” said Angelina Mayle, a second-year FSU student and vice president of Fairmont State’s Honors Program.
Some attendees said that the rain added to the overall enjoyment of engaging in the first home game. It certainly did not stop Sophie Stuart—a third-year FSU stu

dent as well as president of the Student Government Association—when her excitement of a touchdown during overtime showed just how much fun there was to be had during the game, despite a slight slip-up.
“I went to step on the concrete podium in front of the student section, and I went over the podium and completely fell. And it was an amazing time,” Stuart said.
Meanwhile, the Falcon marching band, cheerleading team, and dance team powered through the rain, continuing to perform, cheer, and dance to get fans hyped up throughout the game.
“That kind of energy is what we need, and we need to bring it every day. Not just at football games, but at…whatever we’re doing, we need to bring that kind of energy because we have got to be here for each other and encouraging each other,” said Fairmont State President Mike Davis.
By the end of the fourth quarter, the Falcons and Huskies were neck and neck with a score of 34-34, and the game went into overtime. After a touchdown and a blocked two-point conversion, the Falcons squeaked out a one-point win. The final score was 41-40.
The Falcons will try to continue their winning streak against the Wheeling Cardinals in their next home game on September 20 at 12:00 P.M. at Duvall-Rosier Field.
