President Mike Davis has been in his position for 20 months. By this summer, his two-year contract will be up for renewal.
The successful renewal of said contract would result in the continuation of Davis’s career at the university. Riley Neal, President of the Board of Governors, stated, “I am very satisfied with President Davis’s performance so far.” Neal shared that she has enjoyed working with Davis and looks forward to his future at the university.
The American Association of State Colleges and Universities will consult with the president. This organization reviews many college and university environment aspects to ensure excellence. State law requires this review. “They know what public universities should look like and what public universities should do.” Davis stated. Several audits and surveys will take place before July 1st to review what Davis has accomplished. They plan to determine if Davis has completed the initial objectives agreed to in the first contract. There will also be questionnaires for the students and faculty to rate their satisfaction with the president’s performance thus far. Davis explains, “The contract covers salary, certain expectations; I have some incentives in there.” This contract also covers bonuses and travel expenses pertaining to university business.
Davis and his administration plans to add new academic programs and innovate within existing programs. Davis plans events for student and faculty to enjoy. He hopes that these events will foster a deeper sense of community among members of the University. Davis has also brought on a new vice president for enrollment management and a new vice president for student affair. Their main objective will be bringing in perspective falcons and creating a positive learning experience for existing students. “We have to start to innovate to get our student population up.” says Davis.
The official renewal of the contract is July, 1 2025. While the details of the contract are unknown at this time, Davis wishes to continue in his position at Fairmont State University.
