When the people of God are suffering, He’ll raise up someone who understands what, where, when, and why the message is being revealed to obtain liberty through salvation. In the time of the Pharaoh, the Israelites were held captive and underneath the rule of the Egyptians. Their living habitat was less than the citizens of Egypt and had to do the labors that those individuals cared not to do. It would end up in punishment in forms of whipping, caning, unfair treatment, and in the worst case, death. The laws of Egypt, which were meant to subdue the people and prevent their captives, now turned to keep slaves or people for free labor in check. The laws of mankind are meant to subdue a person or a group of people, while the laws of God are meant for the enhancement of humanity as a whole.
Moses appeared during a time when the Israelian people weren’t following the laws of God and were left in the hands of their enemies. The Grace of God was still on them, but it wasn’t revealed because there wasn’t anyone who could obtain that Grace to lead the people into an era of prosperity according to the laws revealed from Heaven. Moses being of Jewish decent was raised in the household of the Pharoah. The Pharoah’s daughter adopted the young Jewish baby, which was found floating on the river after being left behind by the biological mother. It wasn’t because she didn’t love her child, but from the decree made by Egypt of only having a certain number of kids, especially the boys birthed at that time. She took a leap of faith in hopes that Moses would survive in life instead of death. The young man grew up and found out that he wasn’t an Egyptian, but an Israelite. A compassion was there for the Israelian people, and as time went on, he understood that they shared the same blood. Moses started to speak up and fight for the freedom of his people against the governing laws of the land as Heaven showed both sides that these laws were unfair and couldn’t co-exist in heaven or earth.
Isreal was led out of bondage into unknown lands in order to receive the promise passed down through Moses and Aaron, his biological brother. They spent forty years traveling across the desert, but during this time, he spoke with his father-in-law, Jethro about how to govern the people through a system that would take away the pressure from Moses and allow what was being done by him alone to continue through others.
Exodus 18, verses 12-26 (KJV) says: “12. And Jethro, Moses’ Father in law, took a burnt offering and sacrifices for God: and Aaron came, and all the elders of Isreal, to eat bread with Moses’ father in law before God. 13. And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses sat to judge the people: and the people stood by Moses from the morning unto the evening. 14. And when Moses’ father in law saw all that he did to the people, he said, What is this thing that thou doest to the people? why sittest thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even? 15. And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people come unto me to enquire of God: 16. when they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws. 17. And Moses’ father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good. 18. Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone. 19. Hearken now unto my voice, I will give the counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God: 20. and thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do. 21. Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundred, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens: 22. and let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee. 23. If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace. 24. So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he said. 25. And Moses chose able men out of all Isreal, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. 26. And they judged the people at all seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves.” There’s a message and an answer to those who are going through situations and circumstances in life. The answer relies in their action that was once a question.
These individuals were given a responsibility because they were the kind of people needed for the law’s fulfillment of God’s Will for the people. Moses is an example of how those placed in every position are meant to lead and judge. God provided a system through His spirit with the purpose of increasing, knowing, and doing what was right, in order to prevent losses from ignorance in doing things that are wrong. The Ten Commandments are the beginning point and vital to the beginning of salvation for oneself and the people around them. It will usually come with trial and error because it’s something that was unknown, or fears within which prevented one or many from achieving better. A rough draft of God’s laws was revealed to Isreal and its followers at that time.
Exodus chapter 20 (KJV) says: “20. And God spake all these words, saying, 2. I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 4. Thou salt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 5. thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6. and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. 7. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. 8. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10. but the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11. for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. 12. Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. 13. Thou shalt not kill. 14. Thou shalt not commit adultery. 15. Thou shalt not steal. 16. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. 17. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, not his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighour’s 18. And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off. 19. And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die. 20. And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not. 21. And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was. 22. And the Lord said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven. 23. Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold. 24. An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee. 25. And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it. 26. Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered theron.”
These events happened during the Old Testament of the Bible. It was during the early days of mankind, and as the earth revolved around the sun, the days and ways of mankind evolved because God had a profound word to speak and the spirit that dwelled within humans wasn’t strong enough to receive it. In the same manner in which a lawyer or a studier of law can work according to the law in providing justice for those who were wronged by others or a situation. An effect from disobedience in the Garden of Eden that got man kicked out, which transgressed into laws being created to keep humanity on the correct path.
Laws differ in regions and during this time, those regions had a king or a figure that ruled those areas. They would look out for the rich and powerful as the poor suffered and struggled to provide for themselves and loved ones. Moses started the political views of the United States in which we call Democracy. It works great when the individuals placed in positions have a heart for the people and are provided with the knowledge of how to interpret it, with the wisdom of making it succeed. This was done for a span of time after Moses, but when those who aren’t in line with everyone in mind when making decisions, the outcome will be a group or community of people suffering during that chaotic reign. Many people came with a Word from God during these trials, yet it was always a time where the people were deaf to God’s voice and open to hear what Satan had to say through the lips of man’s carnal spirit. This allowed Laws of contradiction to be established that favored who we associate with and not by how we are as an individual, so God knew He needed to do something different from before but in a similar way, so He sent forth His only begotten son Jesus to reveal God’s voice.
Matthew chapter 5 (KJV) says: “ 1. And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: 2. and he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, 3. Blessed are the poor in spirit: for their’s is the kingdom of heaven. 4. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. 5. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. 6. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. 7. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. 8. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. 9. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. 10. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for their’s is the kingdom of heaven. 11. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 12. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. 13. Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. 14. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. 15. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. 17. Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. 18. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. 21. Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of judgement: 22. But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without cause shall be in danger of the judgement: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. 23. Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; 24. leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. 25. Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. 26. Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing. 27. Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: 28. but I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. 29. And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. 30. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. 31. It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: 32. but I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. 33. Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time. Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: 34. but I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven: for it is God’s throne: 35. nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. 36. Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. 37. But let your communication be, Yea, yea; nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. 38. Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 39. but I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. 41. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. 42. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. 43. Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45. that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. 46. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47. And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? 48. Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”
Jesus revealed that he has come to fulfill the law. He also revealed what was correct about the law with the comparisons of the things which weren’t or lacking. He’s speaking on how laws were made to enhance the people and not to control them. There are certain things that bring forth freedom by overcoming things that will keep us imprisoned or in bondage. Just how Jethro gave insight to Moses about the people placed in these positions, God also revealed how they were supposed to uphold these positions. If either one of these were out of place, the ramifications of it would become dire from the consequences over time. Laws need to have order, and those in positions need to have that order embedded within their hearts. We all have problems or issues that cause us to be less than we should be, but it doesn’t mean that corrections can’t occur. God made a way for us to enhance ourselves and one another. It’s a law that is revealed through the messages given and the actions of them. We all have laws that we uphold that may not be written in the law books. Just because they may seem unimportant from the statutes of governing laws, it doesn’t mean that they aren’t important to God. Jesus spoke of the Ten Commandments, but he also spoke of lesser laws and the importance of them. Even the laws we place on ourselves have a significance towards obtaining freedom from convicting judgement of the laws which brings forth death instead of life.
