Falcon Food Drive
After the very successful ‘Christmas with a Falcon’ donation program last semester, Fairmont State University’s Student Government Association (SGA) wanted to do another act of service for those in need. The organization decided to do another food and monetary donation drive to support local families within the county. Fairmont State students, faculty, and staff, along with surrounding community members are encouraged to bring types of kid-friendly foods or monetary donations.
The SGA’s final goal is to meet $10,000 worth of donated items or money. The group is approximately halfway to their projected goal. The hope is to be able to create 170 boxes of food to take to just about 17 Marion County schools. Along with members of the FSU and local community, contributions from the Fairmont Food Lion and East Side Price Cutter.
The drive will continue until April 15th, with the intention to deliver the goods to schools on April 16th. Donations can be taken to the SGA Office, located next to The Nest in the Falcon Center. There is also an option to send money through Venmo at sharoncarpenter91 or through CashApp at $sharonharper91. Please see the attached flyer for additional ways to help a great cause.
Falcon Food Drive organizer, Sharon Carpenter, stated, “This project has shown me how our community can pull together to ensure that students in our local schools have food to help them get through this difficult time.” With the help of more people, the organization will be more capable to help their goal of feeding more children and their families!
