Residence Hall Do’s and Don’ts

What you can and cannot have in your room

Over Spring Break 2019, multiple students received residence hall violations. Some students had no idea what was or wasn’t allowed because they were new to the university, or just uniformed. I’m here to let you know what is and isn’t permitted in the dorms.

Some items that you may not have known were “illegal” include: dehumidifiers, bed risers, and extension cords. In addition, decorations attached to light fixtures and fire equipment are not allowed. Power strips and christmas lights are permitted, but may not be plugged into each other. No pets are allowed with the exception of a fish with a tank of less than 10 gallons.

Items that are permitted in the dorms include: micro fridges, lamps, Keurigs, and cookware.

More rules and do’s and don’ts can be found in your housing contract or online at fairmontstate.edu. Have a great rest of the Semester!
