Black Student Union Launches first ever Black History Month Celebration with many events scheduled. The students and professors of BSU hope the student body will join them in celebrating their rich heritage.

The Celebration kicked off February 21 at 7 PM with a showing of the movie “Tuskegee Airman.”

The next big event is the Wax Museum Expo, which features students dressed as prominent African American figures throughout history, such as Frederick Douglas,  C.J. Walker, Harriet Tubman, and even Michelle Obama.  If you do not know who any of these people are, come and find out Tuesday, February 26, Main Street Falcon Center. Afterward, Dr. Amena O. Anderson, a graduate of Fairmont State and WVU, will speak.

Another prominent event is a soul food dinner hosted in the dining hall cafeteria at Fairmont State.  Among the menu items are fried catfish, baked chicken, collard greens, string beans, fried okra, 3 layer macaroni and cheese, and sweet potato pie. This dinner will take place on February 28, 6-8 PM.

To learn more about these events or to be a part of Black Student Union, contact advisor Dr. Mark Staples, BSU President Brennah Staunton, or Executive Vice Pres. Rochelle Woodson.  For more information about these events and more, see the attached flyer.
